The ancient Greeks have influenced our style of architecture in many ways, from columns to stadiums.
There are many examples of Greek architecture in the modern world that you might not have noticed.
One of these is the White House in Washington DC. The main entrance resembles a temple with its ionic columns and triangular roof.
Another example is the British Museum, London with its tall Ionic columns.
Another building with Ionic columns is the Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway.
One example closer to home is the New Zealand Parliament building, which again has Ionic columns.
Even Queen Margaret College have columns at the main entrance!
